Early or partial results. Treat as a signal, not a conclusion.
This is a completed but unreported clinical trial comparing metabolic and weight outcomes of Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) Mediterranean-style eating patterns under energy balance and restriction versus typical American diet (TAD) under energy restriction in 54 adults with obesity. No efficacy or safety results are available in this registry record.
Interventional, Randomized, Parallel, Open label, Basic Science purpose. Obesity, Body Weight; Female; age from 19 Years; to 64 Years; accepts healthy volunteers. Intervention: DGA Mediterranean diet pattern, energy balance; DGA Mediterranean diet pattern, negative energy balance; TAD diet pattern. Compared with: TAD (typical American diet) pattern with negative energy balance. n = 54. 1 site: United States.

This registry record contains no efficacy, safety, or outcome results; completion status does not imply results have been published or posted
The source did not state who this applies to in practice.
This is a completed registry record with no reported results; it describes the planned design and rationale of an interventional study on dietary guidelines and metabolic outcomes.
As stated by the source record.
Quoted from the source exactly as published.
Graded across the dimensions that decide whether you should act, each from what the source actually supports. There is no single score, and where a dimension was not assessed it says so.
What is missing. This record has no key findings. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04293224). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: USDA, Western Human Nutrition Research Center. Recruitment status: COMPLETED. Phase: NA. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 54 participants (ACTUAL). Conditions: Obesity, Body Weight. Interventions: OTHER: DGA Mediterranean diet pattern, energy balance; OTHER: DGA Mediterranean diet pattern, negative energy balance; OTHER: TAD diet pattern, negative energy balance. Primary outcome measures: Change in body weight , Measured weekly for weeks 1 through 10, and weeks 13, 17, 21, 24 and 28. Brief summary: This study, at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC), will focus on whether or not achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight is the most important health promoting recommendation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA).The investigators hypothesize that improvement in cardiometabolic risk factors resulting from eating a DGA style diet will be greater in people whose energy intake is restricted to result in weight loss compared to those who maintain their weight. The investigators further propose that during a state of energy restriction, a higher nutrient quality diet such as the DGA style diet pattern, will result in greater improvement in cardiometabolic risk factors compared to a typical American diet (TAD) pattern that tends to be lower nutrient quality (more energy-dense and less nutrient-rich.)
