Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07828743). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: University of Alabama at Birmingham. Recruitment status: COMPLETED. Phase: NA. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 108 participants (ACTUAL). Conditions: Obesity & Overweight, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus in Pregnancy, Gestational Weight Gain, Morbid Obesity, Nutrition Behavior. Interventions: BEHAVIORAL: Nutrition education. Primary outcome measures: Gestational weight gain , From first prenatal visit to delivery. Brief summary: Women with obesity who gain more weight than recommended during pregnancy are more likely to have problems such as cesarean delivery, diabetes in pregnancy, high blood pressure, and larger babies. Standard prenatal care does not usually include nutrition counseling based on weight alone. This trial tested whether adding group nutrition classes during pregnancy helps these women gain less weight during pregnancy compared to standard prenatal care alone.
