Heart Failure / Acute Decompensated Heart Failure · Observational Study
ClinicalTrials.gov · August 17, 2026
Early or partial results. Treat as a signal, not a conclusion.
This is a planned observational cohort study registered on ClinicalTrials.gov that aims to evaluate whether two circulating proteins are associated with the occurrence of acute decompensated heart failure and related cardiovascular events over a 3-year follow-up period. No results have been published or posted in this registry record.
Observational. Acute Decompensated Heart Failure, Heart Failure; age from 18 Years. Intervention: Heart Failure. n = 500. 1 site: United States.

Once results are available, this study may inform whether two specific circulating proteins can serve as biomarkers for the transition to acute heart failure decompensation. Current clinical utility of these proteins is not established.
This is an active observational registry study with no reported results; it is designed to explore associations between circulating protein markers and heart failure outcomes over 3 years.

Graded across the dimensions that decide whether you should act, each from what the source actually supports. There is no single score, and where a dimension was not assessed it says so.
What is missing. This record has no key findings. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT00762008). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: UConn Health. Recruitment status: RECRUITING. Study type: OBSERVATIONAL. Enrollment: 500 participants (ESTIMATED). Conditions: Acute Decompensated Heart Failure, Heart Failure. Primary outcome measures: Hospitalization for acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke or death. , 3 years. Brief summary: The purpose of this research is to determine if two proteins in the blood are increased during acute heart failure. These two proteins are produced when the heart becomes dysfunctional and unable to contract normally. They may then be released into the blood and be detected by standard method in the research laboratory. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the relation between the change of these two proteins in the blood and the occurrence of acute heart failure. At this time, detection of an increase in these proteins in the blood is not known to be associated with any disease or heart failure.
