What is missing. This record has no bottom line, key findings, reported figures, evidence dimensions. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04153136). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: Massachusetts General Hospital. Recruitment status: COMPLETED. Phase: PHASE2. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 39 participants (ACTUAL). Conditions: HIV/AIDS, Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction. Interventions: DRUG: Sacubitril-Valsartan 49-51Mg Oral Tablet; DRUG: Placebo oral tablet. Primary outcome measures: Myocardial Inflammation/Fibrosis , Baseline and 6 months; Myocardial Dysfunction , Baseline and 6 Months. Brief summary: Persons with HIV, even those well-treated, are at increased risk for heart disease when compared to the general population. Two hormones called aldosterone and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), which have been shown to be abnormal in HIV, may be associated with inflammation as well as early changes in structure and function of the heart. This study is being conducted to evaluate whether therapies to block aldosterone and increase BNP levels may reduce the burden and progression of heart failure to improve cardiovascular health.
