Brief summary: The aim of the study was to test the indigenously developed and Islamic Integrated forgiveness therapy to deal the symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, anger and ruminations after the occurrence of marital transgression. The study utilized Qusai experimental research design. Non-probability convenience sampling strategy was utilized, and 50 participants (16 Men \& 34 Women), married for at least 3-years and who have experienced a marital transgression(s) were recruited. 27 in IIFT group and 23 in FT group, of age-range 28-38 years (M = 33.60, SD = 3.65) were enrolled for the study. Demographic Information Sheet, Marital Transgression Checklist, Enright's Forgiveness Inventory-30 (EFI-30), Depression, Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), Marital Offence-Specific Forgiveness Scale (MOFS), Ruminations about the Transgressions, Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI); empathetic concern and perspective-taking, Religious and Spiritual Struggles Scale (RSS) and Self-Transcendence Scale (STS) were used as an outcome measures. The results of the study, analyzed using SPSS-23, indicated that there were significant mean differences between the experimental group and the control group on the scores of forgiveness, depression, anxiety, stress, ruminations, marital offence specific forgiveness, religious and spiritual struggles, and self-transcendence indicating that Islamic Integrated Forgiveness Therapy was more effective in alleviating the symptoms.
