Early or partial results. Treat as a signal, not a conclusion.
This is a completed but unpublished registry record for a comparative interventional study of banded versus non-banded sleeve gastrectomy in 219 patients with Class IV obesity. No efficacy, safety, or outcome data are reported in this registry entry. Clinicians and researchers should await publication of full results before drawing conclusions.

Results are not posted in this registry entry; efficacy and safety outcomes are unreported.
Pending publication, this study could inform choice between banded and non-banded sleeve gastrectomy in the most severe obesity category. Currently, no guidance can be drawn from this registry record alone.
This is a completed registry record with no posted results; it describes an interventional study design and planned outcomes without reporting any efficacy or safety data.

Graded across the dimensions that decide whether you should act, each from what the source actually supports. There is no single score, and where a dimension was not assessed it says so.
What is missing. This record has no key findings. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07100327). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: General Committee of Teaching Hospitals and Institutes, Egypt. Recruitment status: COMPLETED. Phase: NA. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 219 participants (ACTUAL). Conditions: Morbid Obesity Requiring Bariatric Surgery. Interventions: PROCEDURE: Band; PROCEDURE: Non-Band. Primary outcome measures: Total Weight Loss (TWL) , Measured at 6, 12, 24 and 36 months postoperatively. Brief summary: Obesity remains a major global health challenge, with Class IV super obesity (BMI ≥ 50 kg/m²) being the most severe form. This condition is associated with numerous comorbidities including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, and hyperlipidemia, which significantly reduce life expectancy and quality of life. Bariatric surgery, particularly sleeve gastrectomy (SG), has been shown to be an effective treatment for morbid obesity. While SG results in significant weight loss and improvement of comorbidities, some patients experience weight regain over time. Banded sleeve gastrectomy (BSG) has been proposed as a modification of SG to enhance long-term outcomes by providing additional restriction via a polypropylene band around the proximal gastric pouch. Although initial evidence for banded procedures suggests improved outcomes, particularly in the context of weight loss and reduced weight regain, specific evidence for Class IV obesity remains limited.
